Technology and Innovation

Vision Statement:

The research and education activities of InFERG contribute to understanding of the drivers of food innovation and technological development. These activities focus on informing public-policy and business decision-makers and members of civil society regarding the economics of food innovation and technological development.

List of Activities:

The activities of InFERG related to technology and innovation focus on a number of specific issues:

• Understanding the economic drivers of food and bio-product innovation and commercialization.

• Understanding consumer perceptions of advanced food innovation and food technologies.

• The role of the regulatory environment in shaping food and bio-product innovation and commercalization

This research takes as its starting point the theoretical and empirical tools of economics, but is informed by and employs approaches from the business and marketing literature. The predominant geographical focus of this work is Canada.
