The vision of the International Food Economy Research Group (InFERG) is to be an international leader in economics-related research and education on the global food economy.

The major activities in our group focus on local and global consumer and producer issues related to Diet and Health , Food Safety and Quality , Food Security and Poverty , Technology and Innovation , Food System Dynamics and Food Trade.

The group seeks to inform public, private and non-governmental decision makers and to contribute to public discussion on contemporary food issues.

Members of InFERG contribute to undergraduate and graduate programmes of the Departmen of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics(FARE). One of the major themes in these programs is food economics, in which the University of Guelph is one of the leading academic institutions in North America.

Members of InFERG make every effort to interact with stakeholders and disseminate the results of their research. For example, the group has a regular lunchtime seminar series that is open to all.
